Small Off-grid Cabin with Solar Electricity and Solar Water Pumping

Three 150-watt solar panels provide all the electricity this family needs to run their small off-grid cabin and well pump. This little weekend cabin entertains family and friends. It requires only three BP 150-watt 24-volt solar panel and four Surrette 530-amp-hour batteries. The system is controlled by a Trace SW4024 inverter. The 220- volt well pump is powered by the Trace 110 volt and stepped up to 220 through a Trace T240 transformer. At last, the owner has the freedom to turn on lights and run the well pump for domestic water and water the trees.

Shortly after we installed this tidy little power system, the propane refrigerator died. Replacement was made by a super-efficient off-the-shelf electric refrigerator that was twice the size. With this power system this fridge costs nothing to run.
